Salmon Idaho Dance Camp

Event Description
Salmon Idaho Dance CampJune 12 – June 16 2024Come join us for four days of dancing and music in central Idaho. The Salmon Wild River Camp is led by fabulous Dances of Universal Peace leaders from Idaho, Montana and beyond. This diverse team will carry us through the many spiritual traditions of the world in the ancient practice of community circle dance.Still only $50 for 2024!What We DoNo experience or partner needed in the Dances of Universal Peace. Each dance is taught in place: we are given a short song, easy steps, and the meaning (or attunement) of what we are doing. We set up the song and then go. It’s as easy as that. You become the musical instrument in a circle of fellow human beings. We can do songs from native sources, Christianity, Judaism, eastern Sufi sources and more. Often they are inspiring poems. The magic is the circle. Each person (you included) is what creates the magic. Humans evolved singing and celebrating in circle dance. As soon as you step into the circle you’ll know you are home.We will be dancing in our tent in Salmon. There is lots of room for camping and there are motels nearby in town to stay.About our dates and locationOur event location opens up on Wednesday the 12th and stays available through Monday. So campers can come early and stay late. You are certainly welcome to arrive on Wednesday and get set up for camp. We’ll be finishing the tent setup on Wednesday and have a jam in the tent. Although the last dance will be on Sunday morning you are welcome to stay and play until Monday.Food and LodgingCamp is not providing food or lodging. Restaurants, grocery stores, and motels are in town a few miles from our dance location. Camping is a great option. There is lots of room to camp near the tent. Bring your own camping gear and kitchen items. Water is available and electricity will be solar (electric plugins are available nearby in the ranch shop).MusiciansAcoustic musicians are welcome. As you arrive at camp please let us know about your musicianship! We coordinate various instruments into our dance sessions. You’ll want to play with us! We’ll also have a dance/music jam in the afternoons. Is It Really Fifty Bucks?Yes… the camp is very inexpensive. This is because we love what we do. This is not about making money, but about coming together. plus, we don’t have to pay for our tent location, lodging/camping/food is on your own — and we need you! What’s it Like?Dancing with us is like joining a tribe. When we first come together we often don’t know each other’s name, but become immediate brothers and sisters. The camp is held by elder wisdom with experienced leaders who have been doing this for over thirty years. Often something new like this can be uncomfortable, but we know how to bring you in with a smooth transition from aloneness to togetherness. There is an essence in every human being that yearns for togetherness. We use our feet, simple music and ancient wisdom to create a moving space of heart.More at mysticdance.com
